Guess the Flag LIVE: questions and answers
How do I play Guess the Flag on YouTube?
Open the live stream on YouTube and type the country's name in the live chat when you recognise the flag (or the outline, in border rounds). In capital rounds, type A, B, C or D, or the city. The fastest right answers score the most points.
Do I need to sign up?
No. All you need is a YouTube account to write in the live chat. You appear on the leaderboards from your first right answer.
How are points counted?
Up to 100 points for a right answer, fewer the longer you take, never under 10. Medium flags pay ×1.5 and hard ones ×2, the first right answer of a round earns +25, and from your third right answer in a row your points are doubled.
What is a streak?
Right answers in a row. From the third one, your points are doubled until you miss a round. Channel members can win a broken streak back once a day with !restore.
What does !country do?
Type !country and your country's name: every point you score also counts for that country on the country leaderboard.
Why didn't my answer count?
Answers are judged on when you typed them, minus the stream's delay, so an answer typed after the timer ran out on your screen is too late. In capital rounds only your first answer counts. A country's name with a small typo is still accepted; a different country is not.
Is the live always on?
Yes, 24 hours a day, with a short break every few minutes. Every so often it moves to a new live video; your points and streaks carry over.
How do I leave this site?
Type !hide in the live chat: you leave the boards and your page disappears. Type !show to come back. To have your data removed, write to the address on the privacy page.
What do channel members get?
A badge, a name colour on stream (!color), a theme and a banner on their page here (!theme, !banner), and a broken streak back once a day (!restore).
Still a question? Ask it in the live chat with !feedback, or see how to play.
